Bristol Rovers made it back to back home wins after beating Torquay 3-2 at the Memorial Stadium this afternoon.
Two goals in two minutes from Tom Eaves and Matt Lund gave Rovers the lead in the first half, in what was arguably the best half of football the home side have played all season.
A sloppy start to the second half saw Torquay draw level thanks to goals from former Gas players Rene Howe and Aaron Downes.
But Tom Eaves scored his second goal of the game to give Rovers a deserved three points.
Rovers could have been out of sight in the first half if it wasn’t for the heroics of former Gas keeper Michael Poke.
Joe Oastler was also sent off for the visitors, picking up his second yellow for a challenge on substitute Lee Brown.
Mark McGhee named an unchanged side from the team that drew away at Burton Albion last weekend.
David Clarkson had the first half chance of the game shooting across the face of goal.
Michael Poke was then given a yellow card for handling outside the area, but the resulting free kick was easily cleared.
Richards then picked up the ball in midfield, did well to skip past a number of Torquay players, but his shot was straight at Poke in the Gulls goal.
Rene Howe had a shot for Torquay, shooting from distance, with the effort going wide of the left post.
Eaves opened the scoring for Rovers on 15 minutes; Matt Lund played the ball into the striker who chipped the keeper and slotted the ball home.
Two minutes later the provider turned goal scorer from a free kick. Lund stepped up and curled a fantastic free kick past Poke and into the back of the net.
Rene Howe had another chance for Torquay before Fabian Broghammer made a great run down the left, only to shoot into the side netting.
The winger was brought off straight after as he had picked up a knock to the head earlier in the game and was struggling. He was replaced by Lee Brown.
Oastler then left the field after receiving his second yellow of the match.
Brown had his first chance of the game, but his long range effort went wide of the upright.
Garry Kenneth made a great turn in the box to get off a shot, which Poke tipped over the bar.
Poke then pulled off a string of fantastic saves to keep Torquay in the game; first he saved a deflected shot from Richards, before Eaves got on the end of a great cross from Lund only to see his header tipped over the bar.
Anyinsah then had shot from the edge of the box saved as the half drew to a close.
Eaves almost notched up his second after the restart, the striker controlled the ball well, but Poke got down well to make a low save.
Torquay then got on the score sheet thanks to Howe. It was a sloppy goal for Rovers to concede, with Howe able to shoot home from close range.
Six minutes later another former Gas man, Downes leapt higher than everyone else to nod home the equaliser.
At the other end Anyinsah had a shot deflected over the bar before he made way for Wayne Brown.
Clarkson had a low shot from 18 yards saved by Poke as Rovers sought to regain the lead.
Tom Parkes then headed the ball over the bar, before Wayne Brown got on the end of a cross from Kenneth but also headed over.
Rovers made their pressure count when Eaves managed to get his second and put the home side back in the lead.
Eliot Richards had the initial shot that was blocked by Poke, but Eaves was in the right place to slot the rebound home from close range.
Poke then saved an effort from Lee Brown and managed to deny Eaves his hat trick as the game came to an end.
