A goal in extra time from Ryan Brunt saw Rovers beat Barnet 2-1 at the Memorial Stadium this evening, and lift themselves out of the relegation zone.
It was an evenly matched game between two teams fighting it out to avoid relegation, and the crowd had to wait until late in the game to see some goals.
Rovers showed patience and composure, and were rewarded when Fabian Broghammer opened the scoring with just over ten minutes left on the clock.
Barnet then levelled thanks to Harry Crawford, but Brunt marked his home debut with an impressive late strike to seal the victory for Rovers and make it three wins out of three.
Manager John Ward made one change to the side that beat Rotherham last weekend.
Fabian Broghammer came in to replace Eliot Richards, who had been ill during the week.
Legendary Dutch man Edgar Davids captained the visitors.
Rovers started the game in lively fashion and had the best of the opening exchanges.
Broghammer had the first chance of the game, but his shot was easily caught by Barnet keeper Graham Stack.
Brunt, who was the lone front man, then saw a shot from the edge of the box fly narrowly over the bar.
Broghammer then had another chance in front of goal when Joe Anyinsah’s cross found him on the edge of the box, but his shot was tipped around the post.
Steve Mildenhall was then called to make two saves from Barnet, first from Ricky Holmes whose speculative shot was easily gathered, and then Ibra Sekajja’s shot also found its way into the big keeper’s arms.
A shot form John-Joe O’Toole on the edge of the box was easily stopped by Stack, before Lee Brown set up a great chance for Rovers.
The left back broke down the wing, muscled his way past two players and crossed the ball into the box to Brunt, whose shot was deflected out for a corner.
Oliver Norburn also tried to get in on the act, but his low shot through a crowded box was easily smothered by Stack.
The second half began quietly with neither side creating many clear cut chances straight after the break.
It was the legendary Dutch man who nearly opened the scoring with a great individual effort.
He picked up the ball in midfield, made a strong run towards goal and let fly with a powerful shot which was blocked by Mildenhall.
Rovers then made their first change of the game, with David Clarkson coming on to replace Joe Anyinsah, and minutes later Oliver Norburn was replaced by Eliot Richards.
Jon Nurse then had an opportunity for the visitors, before Broghammer gave Rovers the lead.
The German found himself in a one-on-one situation with a Barnet defender, took his time and slotted the ball home with his left foot.
Substitute Harry Crawford missed a chance to draw the Bees level after skying a shot from close range, but minutes later, on the stroke of full time, as Rovers brought on Danny Woodards to replace Broghammer, he made no mistakes and slotted the ball home.
But Rovers were not ready to roll over and give up their three points.
Deep into injury time, Brunt latched on to a deflected shot from Lee Brown and fired the ball into the top corner to give Rovers victory in front of a fantastic bumper crowd at the Mem.
