GILL TO JOIN EXETER ON A PERMANENT BASIS

24 December 2013

Midfielder to leave the Memorial Stadium

Matt Gill will be joining Exeter City on a permanent basis in the New Year.

The midfielder’s contract is being cancelled by mutual consent, to allow him to pursue his career with the Grecians.

Gill joined the League Two club on loan back in October – his second spell at St James’ Park having previously played their between 2006 and 2009. His new contract with them will begin on January 2nd, after his loan spell concludes.

Matt joined Rovers from Norwich on a three year contract in the summer of 2011.

Appointed skipper in the summer of 2011, Matt made his Rovers league debut on the opening day of the season and went on to appear in 32 league games during his first season at the Memorial Stadium.

A knee injury curtailed his appearances last season and John Ward confirmed last month that Gill was not in his immediate plans, and would need to go out on loan to get games.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers would like to wish Matt luck in his future career.
