MILDENHALL SIGNS

30 May 2013

Keeper commits his future to Rovers

Steve Mildenhall has put pen to paper on a new contract with Bristol Rovers.

The goalkeeper has signed a two year contract, with the option of a third year triggered by appearances.

Steve joined Rovers on emergency loan from Millwall on New Year’s Eve, with Rovers sitting bottom of the Football League.

He then extended the loan until the end of the season, going on to keep seven clean sheets.

Te experienced shot stopper started his career at Swindon and has since played for Gloucester, Salisbury, Notts County, Oldham Athletic, Grimsby Town, Yeovil Town, Southend United, Millwall and Scunthorpe United.

He has made over 350 league appearances in his career.

Chairman Nick Higgs said: “We are delighted to have signed Steve as he really helped turn our season around last season.

“During his time with us he became a popular member of the squad, and worked hard to get us out of danger.

“He comes to us from Millwall, and will be bringing a lot of experience with him.

“I believe it is vitally important to have a permanent goalkeeper, rather then relying on loan signings, and I believe Steve will be part of a solid defence next season.”
