Anyinsah to be released after two years at the Mem


Joe Anyinsah, who was missing from the squad that travelled to Torquay on Saturday, won't be featuring again in a Rovers shirt.

Manager John Ward has confirmed that 28 year old will be released when his contract runs out.

"Joe is not being offered a new deal," said the manager following the 3-3 draw at Plainmoor, "but we all wish him every success for the future."

Bristol born Joe joined Bristol City as a youngster and signed his first professional contract for them.

He spent a spell on loan with Hereford United during his time at Ashton Gate, before joining Preston North End in 2005.

During four years at Deepdale Joe played league football whilst on loan with Bury, Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra and Brighton & Hove Albion.

In January 2009 he signed a permanent deal with Carlisle, for an undisclosed fee, and in the summer of 2010 he completed a move to Charlton Athletic.

After one season he was released  and  returned to Bristol, signing for Rovers.

He made his Rovers league debut on the opening day of last season and scored his first goal for the club in the 3-2 win at Morecambe on 24th September 2012.

Joe made 30 league appearances in the season just ended, seven of which were from the bench, scoring four goals in the process.

In all, he leaves us having made a total 64 appearances in all competitions and with nine goals to his name.
