PATERSON GOES OUT ON LOAN

9 January 2014

Defender heads up north.

Jim Paterson is joining Northern league side Celtic Nation on loan.

The defender will join the team, who are based in Carlisle, until the end of the season.

Back in the summer Paterson suffered a broken leg, that has kept him out of action until now.

Paterson joined Rovers in January 2012 in a deal that took him up until the end of the 2011/12 season. As he was a free agent at the time, it was a short term deal with a view to him earning himself a longer contract if successful.

His no nonsense approach to the game saw him settle into the left back position and he was rewarded for his consistent performances with a permanent contract in the summer of 2012.

Jim began his career with Dundee United and after making over 100 senior appearances for them, joined Motherwell in 2004.

In January 2008 he signed a three and a half year deal with Plymouth Argyle, and moved back to Scotland, on loan, with Aberdeen in February 2010.

In August 2011 he joined Shamrock Rover, for whom he played in last season's Europa League.

He signed another new contract in 2013 after making a total of 29 appearances in all competitions last season, but will miss the start of the season after breaking his leg in a pre-season friendly against Hereford United.
