MEN UNITED V PROSTATE CANCER

Sign for #menunited and win tickets to the Capital One Cup Final

Prostate Cancer UK aims to reach millions of fans, players and staff, by raising awareness of prostate cancer and encouraging men to wise up to the disease and take action.

Men United v Prostate Cancer aims to unite the football community and create a new movement for change in men’s health. During the season ahead Bristol Rovers will champion the work of the Official Charity Partner by promoting key services for men and highlighting joint fundraising efforts across the season.

Building on the success of last year Prostate Cancer UK is launching the opportunity for fans and clubs to sign for Men United and join the fight against prostate cancer.

The charity is asking fans the chance to vote for the greatest ever captain in Football League history. Football blogger Nathan Bees has chosen Stuart Campbell as Rovers' greatest captain and fans can vote to make him the greatest captain in Football League history by visiting www.prostatecanceruk.org/bristolroverscaptain.  You will also be entered into a prize draw for two tickets to the Capital One Cup Final.

By signing for Men United you will not only receive exclusive football stories, you’ll be the first to know about their annual charity challenge, a Men United presence at over 60 grounds this season to help raise money to find the answers to a disease that kills one man every hour.

And finally, the Men United Hall of Fame will seek to showcase and award members of the football community for outstanding work undertaken on behalf of men’s health across the season.

Bristol Rovers Chairman Nick Higgs said: “Football isn’t just about the 90 minutes of play and picking up three points, it also plays an important part of the communities we live in. We have a responsibility to our fans both on and off the park and this is why I’m signing for Prostate Cancer UK’s ‘Men United’ campaign.

“Men tend not to open up about difficult health matters, preferring to talk about the weekend result instead. The fact is that as we all get older the prostate can become a problem, so we all need to face up it and be aware of the risks.

"With the disease killing one man every hour – we can’t afford to ignore this any longer. Today we call on Gasheads to join us by supporting Men United v Prostate Cancer – together we can win this battle.”
