MANAGER ON MANGOTSFIELD

16 July 2015

Rovers faced a different type of test at Mangotsfield last night to the one they faced at Cirencester the previous evening, but on a dry and bobbly pitch at Cossham Street, they made it four victories from four pre-season games thanks to two goals from Nathan Blissett.

Manager Darrell Clarke, speaking after the match, said; "To be fair to Mangotsfield, I thought they were slightly better than us in the first half as we didn't adjust quickly enough to the tempo of the game.

"However, after a chat at half time, we started to play a lot better and, as you might have expected given our fitness levels, went on to dominate proceedings.

"It was another good work out for us, but the biggest positive for me was that we came to one of our local clubs, played in front of  a fantastic crowd, with some brilliant support and I hope that helps Mangotsfield, a very friendly and hospitable club."

He had this to say about Blissett, who his tally of pre-season goals to four; "Nathan took his two goals well. He brings something to the table that other players don't.

"He can be a little bit frustrating at times, when he gets a bit sloppy with the ball, and technically he's never going to be my best player but when he does what he's asked to do he makes a big impact and it was good to see him get those two goals tonight."

One player originally named in the squad and who didn't feature last night was Jennison Myrie-Williams, who will not be joining the club, as the manager said; "Jennison was here on trial, but things won't be taken any further."
